5 huts walk
From the high plateau into the Ramsau alpine region
One of the most beautiful alpine walks in the region is the 5 huts trail – The classic. From the hiking hotel Matschner, the path leads past beautiful farms to hiking trail no. 671. At the Gasthof Edelbrunn you decide whether you want to take the steep climb over the Roseggersteig or hike the 5 hut path steadily uphill via the forest road to the Brandalm and Austriahütte.
From here you walk to the Dachstein cable car station. Here the way to the Südwandhütte (1,910 m) begins. You walk directly below the cable car. Up to the “Schwadering”, where usually a waterfall flows over the rocks. Also in the summer time a snowfield must be crossed. After a little refreshment at the Südwand hut, you descend behind the hut to the Maralmboden (ONLY FOR trained hikers – root path – high steps – sometimes slippery) – please keep left – near the small river we recommend a short rest. From Maralmboden turn left to Almhüttendorf Neustattalm. Continue to the Glösalm and after a short rest take the way to Schlitzenalm (1 road bend above the Glösalm) back to Ramsau Ort. Along the entire route you will be accompanied by the imposing mountain panorama.
