Ramsau am Dachstein and the holiday region of Schladming-Dachstein in the green heart of Styria

Ramsau am Dachstein is an 18 km long and 4 km wide, south-facing high plateau (1.000-1.300 m) with wide flat areas. The holiday landscape on 3 levels lies like a balcony around 400 meters above the Ennstal. It is a typical scattered settlement with several districts. With a balanced sporting infrastructure of up to 220 km of cross-country trails in winter. The Nordic performance center, indoor pool and gym. Ski jump, biathlon facility with roller ski track. Sunny family ski area, 50 km winter walking trail, sports and food shops, bus service, taxi transfer and even an organic golf course in summer!

 

Ramsau pastures area

The hikeable Ramsau pastures area (1,600-1,900 m) at the foot of the Dachstein south walls offers many hiking opportunities over the summer. Magnificent vantage points in the Schladminger-Tauern as well as numerous cozy mountain huts and refuges to stop off. Dachstein Museum at 1638 m above sea level in the Austriahütte or the Dachstein Kircherl on the Brandalm. It is also an ideal area for snowshoeing and ski touring. With ski runs on the ski path to the main plateau. In addition, the Dachstein massif offers countless climbing routes. Around 20 via ferrata as well as 4 children’s via ferratas.

 

Dachstein glacier

The high alpine glacier area on the Dachstein (2,700 m) includes 4 ski lifts. Up to 18 km of groomed glacier cross-country ski trails (training center in autumn), glacier hiking trail to the Seethalerhütte, freeride slopes. It´s the starting point for Austria’s national ski tour. Attractions such as the Dachstein Sky Walk, the suspension bridge with the stairway to nothingness and the Dachstein Ice Palace. The glacier is the starting point for high alpine hiking and climbing tours.

 

At 2,995 m, the Hoher Dachstein is the highest mountain in Styria and the Northern Limestone Alps. Torstein (2,948 m), Mitterspitz (2,925 m) and Hoher Dachstein (2,995 m) together form the distinctive Dachstein triumvirate. That makes the holiday landscape unique and unforgettable.
