Ramsauer Almen Walk at Ramsau am Dachstein
Hiking trail at the foot of the Dachstein
You take the bus to the ground station of the glacier cable car. From there you hike along one of the most beautiful Ramsauer walk of the Alpine region and pastures back to the hotel.
The path leads slightly downhill, over meadows and pastures without much difference in altitude. Through the beautiful larch forest to Austriahütte with the interesting Dachstein Museum. Along the entire route you will be accompanied by the imposing mountain panorama. This hike is particularly enjoyable in the fall. Then the larch trees change their lush green into a golden autumn dress.
After about 10 minutes ascent from the hut, you reach the “Brandriedel“. From here you have a wonderful panoramic view of Ramsau am Dachstein, the Schladminger Tauern and the Dachstein. A gravel and rocky path (Jungfrauensteig) leads up to the Steinernen Jungfrauen. The quarry for the material used to build the evangelical church in Ramsau Ort used to be near the Steinernen Jungfrauen. Back to the hiking hotel Matschner, it’s now slightly downhill, along a beautiful forest path past the Dachstein Kircherl and Brandalm to the Gasthof Edelbrunn. From here it takes about 1 hour on foot to get back to the starting point at the Hotel Matschner.
RVB bus transfer to the Ramsauer Almen area is free with the Sommercard!
