In the paradise of Nordic sports
What a wonderful sport cross-country skiing is! You can glide along the top cross-country ski trails in Ramsau at your own pace, feel how good the cold air is, and discover the beauty of the Schladming mountains on the 220-kilometre-long cross-country ski trail network.
Classic or skating? The choice is yours. Even beginners will find the ideal trail here and there is a separate children's cross-country ski park.
The Dachstein glacier at 2,700 metres above sea level is the longest glacier trail in the world. And if you want a really good workout, we have a tip for you: The World Cup trail will make your calves burn and is famous due to the annual World Cup events held here in Ramsau.
There is no need to lug your equipment around with you, as numerous rental shops offer you top-quality cross-country skiing equipment for the day and you can improve your technique or gain some initial experience at the cross-country skiing schools. You can experience cross-country skiing events up close, such as the FIS Nordic Combined World Cup in December, and, thanks to floodlighting, anyone who wants can indulge in this fascinating endurance sport until 8 p.m. on the 150 classic and 70 skating trails.
There are numerous places to stop along the cross-country ski trails to warm up and try all the wholesome dishes that Styrian cuisine has to offer.
Back at the Matschner, you can get in the mood for the multi-course menu with an aperitif or pamper yourself with sauna infusions in the adjacent Dachsteinbad spa. We recommend booking massages for regeneration after cross-country skiing before your arrival.
