“Halseralm” trail in Ramsau am Dachstein
Cross-country amidst picturesque natural landscape
The “Halseralm” trail is about 10 km long. It extends over versatile terrain and is a medium-heavy track in the Ramsau am Dachstein cross-country network. For ambitious cross-country skiers, the trail continues to the Sonnenalm and Wiesmahdalm, once around the Rittisberg. Another 7.5 km from the 220 km network of cross-country trails.
Directly from the Hotel Matschner, you can reach the starting point and cross-country trail at the World Cup cross country stadium in just a few minutes walk.
Start of the “Halseralm” trail is in direction west passing the “Kreitseilerwiese” – “Helpfererwiese” to Rittisberg. Due to its easy ascents and descents, the trail is particularly interesting for advanced cross-country skiers. Along extensive meadows and snow-covered forests. After approx. 5 km you will reach the end of the Halseralm trail . There is a connection to “Rittisberg trail” (black trail) “Sonnenalm” and “Wiesmahdalm”.
The “Halseralm” is one of the oldest huts in Ramsau am Dachstein. The 400-year-old farmhouse is known for its delicious flambéed Kaiserschmarrn, which you can enjoy on the sun terrace or rather in the warm room. Your way back to the hotel starts with a nice descent trail then follow the same route you as before. Via the junction “Helpfererwiese” you come back to your starting point the World Cup cross country stadium in Ramsau.
